Partner Touts VMware Sales Professional Training

As our partners begin taking advantage of VMware training, they are quickly seeing its advantages. Charles Kaplan of Barsa Systems Distribution, Inc. is no exception. Last month he completed online training to become a certified VMware Sales Professional (VSP). After attaining this distinction, he shared some of his reactions to the training with his sales team and with Avnet.

Format and length of the course: "In order to become certified, you need to take five core modules and one specialization module. Each module is 30 to 60 minutes long and is followed by a 10 to 20 question quiz. My specialization course was Selling Infrastructure Optimization Solutions (Selling Server Consolidation & Containment Solutions), the easiest sell and greatest revenue opportunity."

Quality of the course: "The course is not terribly difficult, but it is not trivial. The online education is one of the best I've taken — very high quality."

What he learned: "VMware is a relatively easy sell, has significant revenue opportunities and has an ongoing revenue stream."

Final words: "I encourage you to become a VSP. You should be talking to customers about X86 virtualization; if you don't, someone else will be."
